After my husband endured years of debilitating illness and pain, we began looking beyond the approaches we had already tried. Our experience introduced us to homeopathy a system of medicine that takes a different approach to understanding health and illness.
Homeopathy is a system of complementary medicine that has been practiced for more than 200 years.
Rather than focusing only on an isolated symptom, homeopathic practitioners consider the person's overallpattern of symptoms, physical health, and individual experience when selecting a remedy.
Homeopathy uses highly diluted substances prepared according to specific homeopathic principles. The goal is to select a remedy that corresponds closely to the individual's unique symptom picture and to support the body's natural processes.
Looking Beyond the Symptom
A symptom is often the body's way of telling us that something is not in balance. Homeopathy seeks to understand the person behind the symptom rather than simply treating the symptom in isolation.
This individualized approach is one of the things that makes homeopathy different.
Instead of asking only, “How do we make this symptom go away?” homeopathy asks, “What is this person's complete pattern of symptoms telling us?”
The practitioner looks at the whole picture including physical symptoms, emotional experiences, patterns, sensitivities, and other individual characteristics to help identify a remedy suited to that person.
